A little background information

Hello all - my name is Matt Lewis (I'm the one with the bass guitar) I'm a 48 year old California native, living in Arkansas for the last 15 years. I've been an unabashed motorcycle nut all my adult life.

When we were young men, my friend Ron Rogers (shown with wife Christi and daughter Michelle) and I rode many thousands of miles together. As a result of my move to the south, those trips became far fewer and further between. The additional responsibilities of careers and families have further precluded our adventures. The trip we are about to embark upon will be our first together since 1992.

Our first motorcycle trip together was the product of a simple brainstorm in June of 1981. We were sitting around wondering what to do when one of us suggested a "road trip". In the beautiful simplicity of those days, an hour or so later we were rolling down the road. This trip, which is intended to be more or less a carbon copy of that route, has been more involved, with over a year going into logistics and planning.

Ron probably qualifies as much a bike nut as me. In the early 80's, we took many trips together, and became masters of economical travel - neither of us having much money. At the time, Ron was working his way through college in my family's 7-11 store in Santa Cruz, CA. He did not own a car at the time - not one that ran, anyway.

I am happy to report that things are much better now, and I invite you to travel along with us in the days and weeks leading up to departure day ….
